Dreaming of Cars

Filed under: Uncategorized — by efatrie @ 9:29 pm

I seriously do not know why, but I keep dreaming of me driving or cars or carparks.

All different scenarios and on different nights:

1) I dreamt that I was pregnant and about to give birth, and was driving myself to the hospital. But weird thing is, I was driving along Clementi. The swimming pool there. The route of bus 282. Wa lao, weird la. There got hospital meh?

2) I dreamt that I was driving very zai-ly. (hahaha)

3) I dreamt that I was at my old house carpark with my mgr and senior. I suddenly realised I didn’t lock the car, and I tried to search for the car. Then I realised it was stolen. -_-”’

4) I dreamt yesterday that I was in an unknown basement carpark. My van (yes, van lor!!) was parked inside this lot. And the weird thing is that the parking lot has got a metal gate to it, which needed to be locked. Once again, I realised I didn’t lock the gate, but luckily enough, my van was not stolen. Oh, I dreamt of my ex-bosses.

I was like, wa lao eh. Why always got to do with vehicles. So I searched for dream interpretations. (Muahahahha)

Van
To see or drive a van in your dream, symbolizes convenience and/or practicality. Consider the load that you are carrying and what you can handle. Don’t stress yourself out.

Car
To dream that you are driving a car, denotes your ambition, your drive and your ability to navigate from one stage of your life to another.

Consider how smooth or rough the car ride is. Whether you are driving the car or a passenger, is indicative of of your active role or passive role in your life. If you are in the backseat of the car, then it indicates that you are putting yourself down and are allowing others to take over. This may be a result of low self-esteem or low self-confidence.

Overall, this dream symbol is an indication of your dependence and degree of control you have on your life.

To dream that you car has been stolen, indicates that you are being stripped of your identity. This may relate to losing your job, a failed relationship, or some situation which has played a significant role in your identity and who you are as a person.

To see a parked car in your dream, suggests that you need to turn your efforts and energies elsewhere. You may be needlessly spending your energy in a fruitless endeavor. Alternatively, a parked car my symbolize your need to stop and enjoy life.

To dream that you cannot find where you parked your car, suggests that you do not know where you want to go in life.

I can only say…. I think it’s freaky.

The Best You Never Had – Leona Lewis

Filed under: Relationships — by efatrie @ 6:34 pm

Somehow I am feeling grateful to guys that I have met. Those that played with my mind, those that made me feel they liked me and then left me, those that said they loved me and then left me….

If not for these people, I’d never discover another side of myself. Neither will I realise that I can be this independent.

I’ll be the best you’d never had.

: )

The Best You Never Had – Leona Lewis

I was so in love with you
There was nothing I could do
Wouldn’t give me the time of day
Now you wanna be with me
You say you wanna be with me

Wooo! I finally finished watching the drama!! Bery nice!!

I am looking forward to Part III if there is any. Hopefully the plot will still be as nice (however, there were some loopholes in Part II). And hopefully Kevin Cheng stays in Part III!!

Wooo!! Can I repeat again that I totally *hearts* 鄭家穎?! Heh heh heh.. Neber mind if he is already in his mid-30s. He still look as yummy cute as any mid-20s!!

I think inside the drama, he is really the dream boyfriend anyone could get! Good looking, smart, devoted, caring, easy going and cheerful.. Hehehe..

Some other pictures from the drama:

5 Easy Pieces

Nice article from Seth Godin’s blog:

You really don’t understand a concept until you know what it’s made of. The taxonomy of marketing (filled with a bazillion tactics) is murky at best. The tactics are so numerous, expensive and sometimes emotional that we easily focus on the urgent instead of the important. Perhaps we could try a different approach:

Never mind the “P”s. Marketing has five elements:
Data
Stories
Products (services)
Interactions
Connection

DATA is observational. What do people actually do? Wal-Mart uses data to decide if an end cap is working. Google Adwords advertisers use data to decide which copy delivers clicks and sales. The library can use data to decide which books to buy (and not to buy). Paco Underhill uses data to turbo charge retail. Data is powerful, overlooked and sometimes mistaken for boring. You don’t have to understand the why, you merely need to know the what.

STORIES define everything you say and do. The product has a myth, the service has a legend. Marketing applies to every person, every job, every service and every organization. That’s because all we can work with as humans is stories. I want to argue that data and stories are the two key building blocks of marketing–the other three are built on these two.

PRODUCTS (and services) are physical manifestations of the story. If your story is that you are cutting edge and faster/newer/better, then your products better be. Average products for average people is a common story, but not one that spreads. When in doubt, re-imagine the product. Push it to be the story, to live the story, to create a myth.

INTERACTIONS are all the tactics the marketer uses to actually touch the prospect or customer. Interactions range from spam to billboards, from the way you answer the phone to the approach you take to an overdue bill. Interactions are the hero of marketing, because there are so many and most of them are cheap. Unfortunately, all lazy marketers can do is buy ads or spam people. Which creates an interaction that belies your story, right?

CONNECTION is the highest level of enlightenment, the end goal. Connection between you and the customer, surely, but mostly connection between customers. Great marketers create bands of brothers, tribes of people who wish each other well and want to belong. Get the first four steps right and you may get a shot at this one.

Some questions marketers must ask: Does this interaction lead to connections? Do our products support our story? Is the story pulling in numbers that demonstrate that it’s working?

In that light, what are you working on? If it’s not one of these five, not going to seriously change the dynamic of your marketing, why exactly are you bothering?

My guess is that your organization spends almost all of its time on the interactions. Once you see the world through the prism of the five pieces, you can get in balance. Or, you could be Jack.

The Glam-ed Up “Liars”

Filed under: Arghs Work — by efatrie @ 9:46 pm

I am just being curious.

Do you (as a consumer) actually believe in advertising and the words marketers say?

I realised I don’t have much friends in marketing (I wonder…). I guess I ought to feel lucky that I landed myself with this job, in this organisation during the market boom.

I feel that it is a pity if everyone else in the organisation (other than marketing peeps) does not believe in what marketing can do. I guess most organisations believe more in A&P that can generate ‘direct’ profits.

I cannot believe it when I hear sales people doing things that they believe is ‘right’ or is ‘market study’. Which… Ultimately may not help at all?

I guess there is no use in lamenting how come our products are the same as the competitors, yet they can sell more/ sell at a higher price. If comparing apple to apple and everything else remains constant, having a nicer user interface + strong advertising and branding efforts, I think everything’s quite clear.

I just do not understand why most sales people do not believe in branding. Or is it just my perception error?

But I am also wondering, what if one day my passion sizzles off, and I no longer believe in what marketing/ marcomms can do for the products.

What if this day come? Then what shall I do?

But I am just too lazy to even book test date for basic theory!! Gosh..
