Parable of the Scorpion and Frog

A scorpion enlists a frog to take him on his back across a stream, even though the frog is astute enough to protest that the scorpion “will surely sting me and I will die.”

The scorpion points out that if he stings the frog, he will die too. The trusting frog thus takes on his passenger, is stung by him, and the two creatures drown together.

But before the frog drowns he asks, “Why did you sting me, Mr. Scorpion, even though it costs us both our lives?” to which the Scorpion replies, acceptingly, “It is my nature.

Sometimes it is sad when people act like they are always right, made right in their own self-righteousness. Or people who love adding poison, bit by bit, into other people’s lives.

They don’t really bother me in my daily life. However being silent doesn’t mean ignorance. I love being silent because winning the argument doesn’t mean you win everything.

And if you really have the best advice on earth, pardon me, why is your life so unhappy?

I always try, but it is painful to love the unlovable like these.

  1. Very true. But perhaps if the scorpion pray to God, His grace and mercy will help the scorpion to change it’s nature. To God nothing is impossible

    • thx for the comment!

a lot of times, these Scorpions do not know they are one, or they are in denial. probably they don’t even realise they sting, only until they sink together with the Frog : )

what I meant is, it depends on whether the Scorpion wants to ‘pray’. Many times, probably they do not see the need to.
